The Importance of Vision in Company Success

The company vision needs to produce a clear picture for all stakeholders so that they can see themselves as a part of the company’s future. In many cases, for new companies, the vision is born from the founder or founders’ desire to create a new and better future. It oftentimes starts with a personal vision for the future and then can be transformed into the creation of a business vision. While the creation of a vision may not seem on the surface to be process-oriented, this is not the case, as you will see in this discussion topic.

For this discussion topic you will:

• Research and then discuss why the creation of a personal vision statement can be useful when making decisions. Include at least two sources from your readings for this week as well as at least two others you discover in your research.
• Provide at least two examples of where business leaders have used a personal vision to create a business venture.
• From a personal application perspective, create a personal vision statement. You may use one that you already have and review it, use one of the many processes listed in the readings, or find another process that appeals to you. You may choose to depict this vision statement from a graphic perspective as well as a descriptive one.
• Identify at least two personal stakeholders in this vision, and validate it with them, see if they have feedback for you. You may choose to work with family, friends, or anyone you trust to provide good feedback to you. Incorporate any changes you make from this feedback, and post the revised version.
• Extrapolate this personal vision into one that can be used to start a business. Or, if you are already a business owner, talk about how personal vision can change or enhance your business vision.
