Project: Environmental Impact PowerPoint

HERE IS ALL THE INFORMATION YOU NEED:

Presentation Content

Prior to posting to this assignment, make sure you have reviewed the associated information within the project module.
The project will take the form of a PowerPoint presentation (or similar) but will be uploaded to the Blackboard assignment folder as a PDF file in order to preserve the original formatting of your PowerPoint. The project needs to have a minimum of 10 slides, not including the reference slide.
The following is an outline that needs to be followed in creating your PowerPoint slides:

Title Slide: Include a title for your project, your name, the course, and the semester.

Creativity with the title you give your project is strongly encouraged.

  1. Manufacturing the Object:

What is the purpose of the object (what do people use it for)? What are the places around the world that produce/manufacture it? (largest manufacturer(s)/exporter(s) of object?)

What are the natural resources needed to produce the object and where do they come from? List all that you can think of.

What are the economic costs of producing the object?

Using the Object:

What resources are needed to use/maintain/store the object and where do those resources come from?

What is the typical longevity of the object (how long does it last before needing to be replaced)?

Disposing of the Object:

  • What happens to the object and its materials once it has been disposed of, and where is it usually disposed of?
  • What resources are needed to dispose of the object?

What timescales are involved in the disposal and/or disintegration of the object?

  • Impact on Environment:
  • What impact does the production, usage, and disposal of the object have on the environment? List all the ones you can find, including the impact on human health. Make sure you address the impact of all three actions in this section of the PowerPoint and make it clear which impact comes from which action.
  • Which of the three actions (production, usage, disposal) has the highest impact on our environment?
  • Conclusions/Thoughts

Here you can portray your thoughts on your findings and address any conclusions you made regarding the object. To get you started here are a few questions that may help:

  • Is the production, usage, and disposal of the object detrimental to our environment? If so, what can be done to limit or eliminate its negative impacts?
  • Is it depleting our resources? Is it sustainable? Do the benefits of this object outweigh the environmental risks? Can we live without it? Is it helping the human condition enough to look the other way in terms of its impact on pollution, health, and the overall environment? Can you personally live without it?
